Matrix Space Setup Checklist for Administrators
Before Creating the Space
1. Account Setup
- [ ] Ensure you have a uni.koeln Matrix account with administrative privileges
- [ ] Install Element or FluffyChat client and configure with uni.koeln server
- [ ] Set up security key backup and device verification
2. Planning
- [ ] Define space purpose and scope
- [ ] Plan room structure (see suggested rooms below)
- [ ] Identify initial moderators
- [ ] Prepare community guidelines
- [ ] Plan invitation strategy
Creating the Space
3. Space Creation
- [ ] Create new Space in Element
- [ ] Choose appropriate space name: "SFB 1252 Talks & Workshops"
- [ ] Set space description: "Research Data and Methods workshops and discussions"
- [ ] Configure space visibility (suggested: invite-only initially)
- [ ] Set space avatar/icon
4. Initial Room Setup
Create these three rooms:
